Performances

HomeI absolutely love to perform. The satisfaction is in being able to share that inner joy, essentially making people happy. Of course, there is a strong spiritual aspect in the dancing. Performing, for me then, is communicating the spiritual ecstacy achieved through the dance.
Niharika

Niharika has performed internationally in performances and festivals, such as the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival in 2006, Odissi Dance Festival in 2003, the 1998 Konark Dance & Music Festival in India, the Canada Dance Festival in 1996, the Fourth Conference of Dance Research in 1995 in Mexico City, the Navodaya Festival in 1994 and 1997, the Festival of New Choreography in 1996 in Toronto. In 1996, she had the fortune of accompanying Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra on a North American and European tour for his 70th birth anniversary celebration. She is a member of Srjan, his company and institution, and has participated in key roles in some of his dance dramas, "Dashaanan", "Chanda Ashoka", "Krishna Sudama", and "Chandrabhaga". She was also in Menaka Thakkar's dance drama, "Bhanushinger Padavali".

Niharika has performed with several notable dancers:
Zelma Badu (West African dance), Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi), Sukalyan Bhattacharya (Manipuri), Ravi Mony (Kuchipudi), Late Jahanara Akhlaq (Kathak), Kamala Reddy (Kuchipudi), Sujatha Srinivasan (Bharatanatyam), Radha Dutta (Mohiniattam), Anjali Patil (Kathak), Sandhya Sree Athmakuri (Bharatanatyam/Kuchipudi), Hari Krishnan (Bharatanatyam), Malini Moorthy (Bharatanatyam), Bageshree Vaze (Bharatanatyam), Vishnu Tattva Das (Odissi), Jyoti Rout (Odissi), Leena Mohanty (Odissi), Asako Takami (Odissi), Sarala Dandekar (Odissi), Ipsita Satpathy (Odissi), and Prabha Raghavan (Bharatanatyam). She has starred as "Surupa" in Sukalyan Bhattacharya's dance drama, Chitrangada". This year, she will be featured as the Odissi exponent in a Dance Festival in Buffalo, New York, performing with senior North American artists - Lata Pada (Bharatanatyam), Kamala Reddy, and Sudeshna Maulik (Kathak). She is also performing duet with Vishnu Tattva Das for Mahashivratri celebrations.
