Jagannath: Lord Jagannath is the Hindu lord of the universe, who is worshipped in the state of Orissa, and is also the presiding deity of Odissi dance. Jini: Niharika's sister's nickname is Jini. Jukta: Niharika initiated the group called Jukta with artists of different Indian classical dance styles: Sarala Dandekar (Odissi), Late Jahanara Akhlaq (Kathak), Sukalyan Bhattacharya (Manipuri), Sandhya Sree Athmakuri (Kuchipudi), Ravi Mony (Kuchipudi), Bageshree Vaze (Bharatanatyam), and Radha Dutta (Mohiniattam). The group presented a piece called Nava Sattvam for the Navodaya Festival in Toronto, Canada. |
